Direct Answer: When will the Korean version of Riftbound be released?
The Korean version of Origins will be released on September 18, booster packs will include the exclusive Overnumber Ahri, and tournaments will temporarily use Korean Standard.
This is not a global new release of Origins. The Korean products, exclusive cards, and launch events announced by the official sources are only applicable to the corresponding market; this article also does not imply that MOONROAD has Korean versions, Korean promos, or any allocation.

What are the initial products for Korea?
Official listed Korean Origins products include regular booster packs, five-card Origins booster packs, Origins Champion Decks, and Proving Grounds, suitable for four-player play. Champion Decks still feature Jinx, Lee Sin, and Viktor as main characters, with each box containing a complete pre-built deck; Proving Grounds provides four ready-to-play decks at once, suitable for friends to learn together.
Why was Ahri chosen for the exclusive card?
Ahri's title is Nine-Tailed Fox. Riot's early character design articles explain that Ahri's creation specifically focused on the Korean legend of the gumiho, the nine-tailed fox, and her release coincided with the opening of the League of Legends Korean server; her name was even chosen by Korean players through a vote. Therefore, Ahri representing Riftbound's official entry into Korea is not just due to her character's popularity, but also connects League's history in Korea with the character's origins.
This new Overnumber Ahri, Nine-Tailed Fox was created by Korean art director Allen Song, with artwork that echoes Dynasty Ahri. Official sources confirm it will appear in Korean Origins boosters and coexist with the original Ahri Overnumber; meaning the chance of drawing the new card does not replace the original version.
Overnumber cards are collectible versions that fall outside the regular numbering range of a series and do not provide additional rule advantages in gameplay. Official sources also stated that they do not plan to regularly include Korean exclusive cards in boosters, so this is a commemorative arrangement for the launch; however, the official sources have not announced the drop rate, so it cannot be written as "guaranteed to pull" or used to infer value.
What's different about the Jinx and Yasuo launch promos?
There are two other promo cards for the Korean launch event. Jinx, Demolitionist uses the original art with a launch commemorative stamp; Yasuo, Remorseful features new artwork by Korean artist Kim Star. Official sources state that both will appear at specific Origins Korean launch events, with Yasuo being found at more limited, designated events.
The promo cards and the Korean booster exclusive Ahri follow three different acquisition routes: Ahri comes from Korean Origins boosters; Jinx and Yasuo are related to event distribution. Do not write event cards as being included in every box, and do not imply that MOONROAD products include the aforementioned promos.
What is Korean Standard?
When the Korean version launches, global players will already be in later series. If Korean new players had to face the complete global card pool from the start, it would create a significant information and collection gap. Riot therefore introduced the temporary Korean Standard: official Korean events will by default only use card sets that have been officially released in Korean, allowing local players to start simultaneously with Origins.
Korean Card Pool Expansion Timeline
- September 2026: Origins.
- December 2026: Origins + Spiritforged.
- 2027: Official goal is to release from Unleashed (Set 3) all the way to unnamed Set 9, a total of seven series.
- Early 2028: Goal is to align with the global release pace at Set 10.
The global banned list still applies to Korean Standard. Official sources also allow stores or players to choose global Standard; therefore, "all Korean events always only allow Korean card pools" is not accurate, and participants should still check the organizer's format on the day of the event.
Two Launch Event Locations in Seoul in September
| Location | Date | Official Announced Content |
|---|---|---|
| GenG GGX | September 18–23 | Learn to play Riftbound, opportunity to purchase Korean Origins series and limited-time items |
| Yongsan IPark Dopamine Station 3F | September 18–30 | Opportunity to learn to play, purchase Korean Origins series and limited-time items |
Official sources use "while supplies last" to describe some limited items, and do not guarantee that every visitor will receive them. Event times, admission procedures, purchase restrictions, and distribution methods are subject to updates, so please check the official Riftbound and @RiftboundKR announcements before attending.
Another arrangement with Korean characteristics is Riot's plan to bring Riftbound into PC bangs. PC bangs have long been a place for Korean League players to meet and play; official sources state that Gen.G GGX will feature a flagship Riftbound area, and later different PC bangs may offer varying scales of services, from simply selling card packs to providing tables and activities.
