What kind of sparks will fly when Japan's national professional football league meets the globally popular IP Pokémon? In the summer of 2026, the J.LEAGUE provided the most passionate answer.
To coincide with the grand opening of the 2026/27 Meiji Yasuda J.LEAGUE on August 7th, the official announcement was made to launch a large-scale collaboration project named "Pokémon J.LEAGUE Fest." This is not just a simple mascot licensing, but a boundary-breaking cross-industry collaboration deeply connecting with 60 teams nationwide, centered around the core theme of "EVOLUTION! J.LEAGUE is Evolving."
For fans and Pokémon collectors, the most tangible attraction of this event is undoubtedly the EVO BAG eco-friendly bag giveaway.
-
Distribution Scale: Approximately 1 million bags are expected to be distributed at designated home matches of various teams between August and September 2026.
-
Design and Material: Each bag will feature the team's representative colors, logo, and a dedicated partner Pokémon. The practical size is 37x30cm, and it is made from 100% GRS-certified recycled polyester, aligning with the modern sports industry's emphasis on sustainable development (ESG).
-
Collector's Value: As an "entry-only" item that is not for sale, and with 60 teams each having their exclusive design, it is anticipated to spark a "stadium pilgrimage" collecting craze in Japan, potentially even leading to significant premium prices in the secondary market.
"Pokémon J.LEAGUE Fest" is not only a successful sports entertainment marketing campaign but also a strong boost for local tourism. For overseas fans of football or Pokémon, this is definitely an excellent reason to plan a trip to Japan in the autumn of 2026.
Whether you're there to witness the historic opening of the J.LEAGUE's cross-year season, to collect the exclusive EVO BAG of your favorite team, or to catch a commemorative Pokémon in the stadium, this summer full of "evolutionary" energy is worth experiencing firsthand at the stadium.
