The Pokémon Company has announced the launch of a new party board game set, Pokémon Baba Nuki & Pokémon Taruka Set (ポケモンババ抜き＆ポケモンタルカセット)! This set combines the popular "Pokémon Baba Nuki" (Old Maid) with the innovative and fun "Pokémon Taruka" (reverse-reading Karuta), and comes with a dedicated custom storage case, allowing players to start a Pokémon party card battle anytime, anywhere. This article will provide a detailed breakdown of the features, card content, and pre-order information for this dual game set.
Product Highlights and Analysis of Two Gameplays
The biggest selling point of this set is that it includes two distinct Pokémon party card games, catering to different age groups and gathering scenarios:
- Pokémon Baba Nuki: Based on the traditional Old Maid rules, with the addition of original Pokémon sound interaction. When a player draws a card from an adjacent player, they must immediately make the sound of the Pokémon on the card! Even if they draw the Joker card Gengar, they must shout "Genga~!", which means the fact of holding the Joker card will be immediately exposed, adding endless laughter and tension to the game. The set includes 36 cards (including 2 spare cards) and a detailed instruction manual.
- Pokémon Taruka: Inspired by traditional Japanese Karuta, but all names and words on the reading cards are designed to be read in reverse (e.g., Pikachu is read as "ウュチカピ"). Players must quickly mentally reverse the text and snatch the corresponding image card. The game also includes special effect cards, adding an interesting twist to turn the tide of the game. The set includes 72 cards (32 image cards, 32 reading cards, 8 rank cards).
Dedicated Storage Case and Comparison of the Two Games
For easy storage and portability, the official set includes a cute original case that can store all the cards for both games in a compact space of approximately W74 × D60 × H115 mm. Below is a brief comparison of the two games:
